Quick answer: On September 16, 2026, Peacock ordered three more seasons of The Traitors on top of Season 6, which arrives in 2027. That takes the US show through Season 9, and Alan Cumming returns as host. In the UK, the BBC announced in March 2026 that The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors will stay on air until at least 2030 (Peacock; BBC Media Centre).
The castle isn’t going anywhere. Here’s what the two broadcasters have confirmed, why they’re committing so far ahead, and what’s coming next.

The US: three more seasons on Peacock
Peacock announced the renewal on September 16, 2026, the day before The Traitors: New Blood premiered on NBC. In its words: “Peacock has ordered three more seasons, in addition to the upcoming Season 6, returning in 2027.” Peacock’s announcement covers “Seasons 6 through 9,” and says Alan Cumming “will also be back” to host (Peacock).
The figures Peacock gave for the renewal:
- Seven Emmys at the 78th Emmy Awards, including a third consecutive win for Outstanding Reality Competition Program (per Deadline) and Cumming’s third consecutive win for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.
- Biggest ratings yet for Season 4, with viewership up 72% on the season before.
- 8.1 billion minutes viewed since the Season 4 premiere, making it the No. 2 streaming original reality series of 2026 to date by minutes viewed.
Accepting his Emmy, Cumming said: “That is so beautiful — that a show about treachery and betrayal brings people together” (quoted by Peacock, via The Hollywood Reporter).
A note on season numbers
Peacock’s own announcement counts New Blood as Season 5, so its celebrity editions resume with Season 6 in 2027 and the new order runs to Season 9. Deadline numbers the Peacock seasons without New Blood: it calls next year’s celebrity season Season 5 and describes the order as running “through Season 8” (Deadline). Either way, it’s the same four seasons. We use Peacock’s numbering.
What’s Season 6?
Season 6 brings back a celebrity cast and is due in January 2027, according to NBCUniversal’s May 2026 upfront (as cited by Wikipedia). Peacock has announced the cast, which includes Bachelor Nation’s Joey Graziadei and Love Island USA’s JaNa Craig. And New Blood?
The first all-civilian US season is airing now: Thursdays on NBC, with each episode on Peacock the next day. Peacock has said nothing yet about whether a second civilian season will follow.
The UK: the BBC commits until 2030
On 12 March 2026, the BBC announced a three-year deal that keeps both The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors in production until at least 2030 (BBC Media Centre; Wikipedia). The audience numbers explain why:
- The Traitors series 4, in January 2026, averaged 11.63 million viewers per episode, its highest yet. The first series averaged 3.74 million (Wikipedia, citing BARB).
- The Celebrity Traitors series 1 was the UK’s most-watched TV programme of 2025, seen by 15 million people, according to BBC News (BBC News).
What’s next in the UK
- The Celebrity Traitors series 2 is on BBC One and iPlayer now, Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm. Guide: cast, schedule and how to watch.
- The Traitors series 5, the civilian edition, is confirmed for 2027 on BBC One and iPlayer. Every UK civilian series since series 2 has launched in early January, but the BBC hasn’t announced an exact date yet, so treat January as likely rather than confirmed.
