Wendy and Gizelle: “the S word”
Wendy learned that Gizelle had been calling her a scammer. Over a one-on-one meal, Wendy told Gizelle the word carries a particular cultural weight when it’s said about a Nigerian person. Gizelle said she hadn’t thought about that, and apologized for using “the S word.” According to Reality Blurb’s recap, it stung more because Wendy had just donated to the National Brain Tumor Society in memory of Gizelle’s father. Gizelle then asked Wendy, a confident public speaker, for advice on an upcoming visit to Congress, where she plans to tell her father’s story (Reality Blurb; Vulture).
Robyn reveals the podcast line she cut
After a GNA “workout wellness” event run by Gizelle and Ashley, Robyn told the group that Gizelle had referred to Tia’s marriage troubles again while they were recording their podcast. Gizelle told listeners they’d hear about it “in six months.” Robyn said she edited it out before the episode was released. Gizelle replied that it wasn’t their job to put Tia’s “business in the streets.” Ashley, who Vulture notes was still annoyed with Robyn about earlier podcast talk, went on to tell Tia what Gizelle had said (Vulture).
Tia vs. Gizelle at Courtney’s party
Newcomer Courtney Ajinça threw a birthday party for her husband, Alexis, and invited the women and their husbands so the men could meet him. Hardly anyone brought a partner. Courtney didn’t invite Karen’s husband, and Tia came alone.
Gizelle made the first move, telling Tia off for repeating to Wendy what Gizelle had said about her. Tia turned it around and raised the podcast comment. When Gizelle struggled to explain it, Tia said:
“As long as you can get a check, anybody’s pain, anybody’s family, that is free game for your success. And that kind of friendship, my dear, I don’t want it.”
Gizelle called the whole thing a misunderstanding. Then Robyn arrived and confirmed what Gizelle had said on the recording: “You’ll hear about it in six months” (Vulture).
Ashley vs. Robyn
At dinner, Ashley said it was odd for Robyn to bring up the podcast edit in front of everyone. Robyn pointed out that Ashley was the one who first raised Tia’s situation on stage in front of a live audience. The two started screaming at each other, and the evening ended with what Reality Blurb calls a forced toast to Alexis (Reality Blurb).
Stacey and Thiemo are engaged again
At a dinner for two, Stacey and Thiemo talked about how hard it had been to get back on the same page. Then Stacey’s dog came to the table wearing an engagement ring, and Thiemo proposed again. According to Reality Blurb, they plan to marry soon. At the party, Stacey mentioned that she already had a “credible” wedding planner, which the recap read as a dig at Courtney, who is an event planner (Reality Blurb).
